RollM8s is a community platform for the UK Skate, Wheels & Boards community — built first for roller skaters and now serving inline skaters, skateboarders, longboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders, snow sports crews and related communities. Our services include event listings and ticketing, ride-sharing coordination, Community Listings (peer-to-peer classified board), Blackout Zone offline mapping, World Trips global events calendar, community features (Safe Space, Corners, Unfiltered, Floor Tax), and related tools.
By using RollM8s, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
You must be at least 16 years old to create a general user account. By registering, you confirm you are 16 or older and that all information you provide is truthful. We require real names at registration to maintain community trust — fake names or impersonation may result in account suspension and, where fraud is suspected, reporting to relevant authorities.
Drivers must additionally be at least 17 years old and meet all the requirements set out in Section 3 below.
Cost-sharing model: RollM8s facilitates shared travel between community members heading to the same events. Drivers are NOT providing taxi, private hire, or commercial transport services. All payments are voluntary petrol cost contributions only.
No employment relationship: Drivers, passengers, and all users are independent individuals. They are not employees, workers, agents, contractors or partners of RollM8s under the Employment Rights Act 1996, the Pensions Act 2008, or any other UK legislation. No ride contribution constitutes payment for services rendered to RollM8s.
Driver responsibilities: You must be at least 17 years old, hold a valid UK driving licence, and use a roadworthy vehicle. You must hold appropriate motor insurance that covers your use of the vehicle for cost-shared community travel. You are responsible for confirming your insurance permits this use — many policies treat passenger contributions as acceptable provided no profit is made, but you must check with your insurer. You must not profit from rides — contributions should reflect fair fuel cost splitting only.
Passenger responsibilities: You agree to be at the designated pickup point on time, contribute your fair share of fuel costs, and behave respectfully.
Safety: RollM8s provides real-time navigation for drivers and live tracking for passengers. However, we are not responsible for the conduct of any user during a ride. Always prioritise your personal safety.
Cancellations: Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations may result in restrictions on your account.
Event organisers are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, pricing, and fulfilment. RollM8s acts as a platform connecting organisers with attendees.
Ticket refund policies are set by individual event organisers and our Refund Policy. Disputes should be directed to the organiser first, then to RollM8s support if unresolved.
RollM8s charges a small service fee on ticket sales to maintain the platform.
The Community Listings board is a peer-to-peer classified listings space allowing community members to buy, sell, swap, or give away skate, board, BMX, scooter, snow sports and related lifestyle gear. RollM8s does not process payments between buyers and sellers — all transactions are arranged directly between users. The only payment RollM8s processes in connection with Community Listings is the optional listing "Boost" fee paid by sellers to increase the visibility of their listings.
Sellers: You are responsible for the accuracy of your listings, item descriptions, pricing, and timely delivery. Misrepresentation or selling prohibited items will result in removal.
Buyers: All purchases are arranged between you and the seller. RollM8s facilitates the connection but is not responsible for item quality, condition, delivery, or disputes.
Prohibited items: Counterfeit goods, stolen property, weapons, illegal substances, and items unrelated to skate, wheel, board sports or lifestyle.
The Hire Hub allows community members to list their own gear for short-term rental and to hire gear from others. RollM8s acts solely as a facilitator: the rental contract is between the listing owner and the hirer.
Booking terms: Each booking is governed by the RollM8s Hire Hub Rental Terms presented to the hirer at checkout. Both parties accept those terms by completing the booking. We snapshot the version, timestamp, and IP at acceptance for audit purposes.
Payment & deposit: Rental and refundable deposit payments are processed through Stripe. RollM8s holds the deposit (via Stripe) until the item is marked returned. RollM8s charges a 10% platform fee on the rental amount, deducted from the owner's payout.
Evidence of condition: The hirer must upload pickup photos when collecting the item. The owner must upload return photos when receiving it back. These photos are stored as evidence in any subsequent dispute. Without pickup photos, the owner's later damage claim is presumed valid by default.
Damage and loss claims: The owner has 48 hours from the booking end-date to raise a damage claim against the deposit. The hirer has 48 hours from a raised claim to accept or dispute. Disputed claims are reviewed by RollM8s using the pickup/return photos, chat history, and any other evidence submitted; our decision is final on platform but does not preclude either party from pursuing normal civil routes. Damage exceeding the deposit is between owner and hirer to resolve directly.
Late returns: Items returned after the booking end-date incur a late fee equal to the listed daily rate per extra day, taken from the deposit. Items more than 7 days late may be reported as theft and the full deposit forfeited.
Owner tax responsibility: Hire income may be taxable. UK HMRC allows a £1,000 trading allowance per tax year; income above that is your own responsibility to declare. RollM8s is not a tax authority and does not file on your behalf.
Prohibited: Sub-letting hired items, modifying them, reselling them, shipping overseas, or pawning them. Doing so voids the rental agreement and forfeits the full deposit.
The Blackout Zone provides access to 72,000+ UK crisis resources (food banks, shelters, medical facilities, charging stations, water points). This data is sourced from public datasets and is provided "as is" — we cannot guarantee accuracy or availability of any listed resource.
Offline navigation: The offline routing engine uses a pre-compiled UK road graph for turn-by-turn directions without internet. While we strive for accuracy, you should always exercise judgment when navigating and not rely solely on the app in emergency situations.
Incident reporting: Users may report incidents and road closures. Reports are user-generated and unverified. RollM8s is not liable for the accuracy of user-submitted reports.
Emergency disclaimer: The Blackout Zone is an informational tool. In a genuine emergency, always call 999 (emergency services) first. RollM8s is not an emergency service.
World Trips displays international skate, wheel and board events sourced from community submissions and public listings. Event details (dates, locations, descriptions) are provided for informational purposes and may change without notice.
RollM8s is not responsible for the organisation, cancellation, or quality of third-party international events.
All community features (Safe Space, Unfiltered, Floor Tax, Post-it Notes, Corners) are subject to the following rules:
Violations may result in content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent ban at our discretion.
Online Safety Act 2023 compliance: RollM8s takes its obligations under the UK Online Safety Act 2023 seriously. We provide an in-app reporting tool for users to flag illegal content, content harmful to children, or material that breaches our community guidelines. We will review reported content promptly and remove it where appropriate. We use a combination of user reporting, community moderation, and automated tooling to identify priority illegal content (including, where applicable, content relating to terrorism, child sexual exploitation and abuse, and other priority offences listed under the Act).
If you are concerned about your safety or the safety of someone else, please contact us via the in-app support feature or at the email address listed in Section 16. For matters of immediate danger, call 999.
Ofcom is the UK regulator for online safety. Information about Ofcom and its complaints process can be found at ofcom.org.uk.
You retain ownership of content you create (posts, photos, listings). By posting on RollM8s, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, store, reproduce, and adapt that content solely for the purposes of operating, promoting and improving the platform.
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms, our community guidelines, or applicable law.
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. RollM8s may charge service fees on ticket sales, Hire Hub platform fees (10% of rental amount, deducted from owner's payout), optional Community Listings "Boost" fees, or premium feature subscriptions. All fees are clearly displayed before you confirm a transaction.
Ride-share contributions are not "payments for services" — they are voluntary cost-sharing between community members.
Hire Hub deposits are held in Stripe and released according to the Hire Hub Rental Terms (see Section 5a). RollM8s never holds your funds outside Stripe's regulated escrow.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, receive multiple community complaints, or use the platform for purposes contrary to its intended use.
You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings.
RollM8s is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, accuracy of crisis resource data, or availability of rides/events.
To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, RollM8s shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
We are not responsible for interactions between users, whether online or in person.
Statutory rights: Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes, but is not limited to, liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation (under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977), or any rights you may have as a "consumer" under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that cannot be excluded by law.
The RollM8s name, logo, design, and original content are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our platform or branding without written permission.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. If you are a consumer resident in another part of the UK, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction where local law requires.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification. Continued use of RollM8s after changes constitutes acceptance.
